Transform your fall décor and treat eyes young and old to mutant cacti.

Even the weirdos get lucky sometimes. That’s how that song goes, right? The weirdos in this scenario are crested cacti and we cactus geeks are the lucky ones who get to enjoy when nature goes a little haywire.

With this specially priced three-pack of prized crested cacti, you get to enjoy nature’s oddball side each and every day. These peculiar plants are great for windowsill culture or occupying a spot on the patio, deck, or porch in morning sun.

So “crested” is what, exactly? Cristation, or fasciation, is a deformity brought on by a disruption to a plant’s central growing point. This area of primary growth cells, the apical meristem, flattens out, developing the ribbon-y, undulating, fan-type patterns that enchant succulent and cactus collectors so. But why, though? What causes the weirdness? It could be “at the hands of” hungry insects or a critter, or some other type of injury. Maybe a bacterial or viral infection, or perhaps a random genetic goof.

Yup, this fasciation business is fascinating stuff and these plants are particularly skilled at attracting lingering stares from the curious. “What is that brain-resembling thing? Wait, is that a cactus? This other one looks like snakes!”

Sure does! Don’t wait too long to strike, as availability is limited. Your crested cacti will appreciate a bit more protection from direct sun and require even less water and fertilizer than their quote unquote normal counterparts. You may receive plants other than those shown, as availability varies…in the best possible way. So step into bizarro world while you can and let your home & garden reap the benefits. At this special pricing, experiencing sticker shock is cause for celebration.

Part of what makes succulents so fascinating are the myriad ways they express themselves throughout the year, depending on light, season, temperature, soil, and hydration. For those and other reasons, the plants you receive may not look exactly as they appear on our website.
