Altman Plants COO receives top horticulture recognition
Vista, CA, July 31, 2012: Matt Altman, Chief Operating Officer at Altman Plants, has been awarded the GrowerTalks/Red Fox Young Grower of The Year Award. The announcement was made at the recent OFA Short Course horticulture convention held in Columbus, Ohio. Recently, essays by Matt and the other award finalists were featured in the GrowerTalks June issue. Each of the finalists gave some keen insight into the future of the horticulture industry. Matt Altman, center, along with Young Grower finalists John McLaren, left, and Conor Carey Matt grew up in the horticulture industry and has had several key accomplishments, including:- Served as General Manager at 22 years old of the Altman Plants’ Salinas division where he and his team expanded facilities and grew sales five-fold over six years.
- Guiding the establishment of roses as a multi-million dollar category for Altman and Altman Plants as a key industry supplier over the course of one year.
- Overseeing, in his current role as COO, the expansion of production and facilities at Altman Plants’ 670 acre location at Lake Mathews, CA.
- Overseeing, also in his current role, production and operations at six regional facilities totaling over 1200 acres.
