Leafy drama! Intrigue! Alocasia ‘Silver Dragon’ may not be able to breathe fire, but this tropical houseplant can infuse incredible life into your home décor.
The main attraction of this stunning houseplant is its large thick silver leaves with deep green ribbed veins, giving the appearance of dragon scales. This elephant's ear plant really lives up to its name, and it's sure to be an eye-catcher in any room. The heart-shaped, highly textured leaves are attached to relatively thin tall stems, reaching 8 inches long by 6 inches wide. The plant should stay on the compact side, especially compared to other alocasias, typically reaching around 2 feet tall and wide.
Alocasia ‘Silver Dragon’ may not be the easiest houseplant to tame, but mimicking its rainforest jungle floor habitat is your best route to success. This plant prefers medium bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight as this can scorch the leaves. Water when the top couple of inches of soil feel dry to the touch. It's best to keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Ideal temperatures are between 65-80 degrees F. Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
